Dr. Rachael Maidens is a native of Brentwood, graduating from Father Ryan and then Birmingham-Southern College where she accomplished All-Conference and All-American Academic honors in tennis while earning magna cum laude in Biology and Psychology.
Dr. Maidens moved to the Sunshine State and graduated from the University of Florida College of Dental Medicine. It was here that her interest in orthodontics began while studying “occlusion” (the way teeth are designed to fit together). Because of her demonstrated leadership skills and service in the community, she earned the Deinheisser scholarship while at UFCD while serving as class president.
Dr. Maidens went on to publish articles for the IADR (International Association for Dental Research) and studied orthodontics at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) in Washington D.C., where she served as head resident during her two-year tenure. She also served as a member of the craniofacial team, treating patients with a variety of different development anomalies. CNMC is the only hospital-based orthodontics residency in the United States, and the experience she received there provided intense training for a variety both surgical and non-surgical orthodontic cases. She has given guest lectures to orthodontic residents, and provided many orthodontic educational presentations to general dentists and other specialists. Dr. Maidens feels privileged to speak with children/teens at career days and health fairs and enjoys educating and inspiring others.
Dr. Maidens passed the Board exam by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2006, and also belongs to various professional affiliations, including the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, and the American Cleft Lip/Cleft Palate Association. She practices with the Six Elements Philosophy developed by Dr. Lawrence Andrews, which is a comprehensive orthodontic philosophy emphasizing optimal occlusion and aesthetics. Dr. Maidens practiced in Atlanta for three years before coming back to her hometown to make the dream of her own practice become reality.

Christina is our clinical assistant. Originally from Brentwood, she was moved by the quality of care that RM Orthodontics provided her own daughter and decided to go to dental assisting school. There she mastered the skills necessary to assist Dr. Maidens in creating healthy, beautiful smiles. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and bee-keeping! A fun-filled fact is that Christina is related to the Queen of England! She has been with the practice as a parent for three years, and an employee for two.
