Dr. Maidens moved to the Sunshine State and graduated from the University of Florida College of Dental Medicine. It was here that her interest in orthodontics began while studying “occlusion” (the way teeth are designed to fit together). Because of her demonstrated leadership skills and service in the community, she earned the Deinheisser scholarship while at UFCD while serving as class president. Dr. Maidens went on to publish articles for the IADR (International Association for Dental Research) and studied orthodontics at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) in Washington D.C., where she served as head resident during her two-year tenure. She also served as a member of the craniofacial team, treating patients with a variety of different development anomalies. CNMC is the only hospital-based orthodontics residency in the United States, and the experience she received there provided intense training for a variety both surgical and non-surgical orthodontic cases. She has given guest lectures to orthodontic residents, and provided many orthodontic educational presentations to general dentists and other specialists. Dr. Maidens feels privileged to speak with children/teens at career days and health fairs and enjoys educating and inspiring others. Dr. Maidens passed the Board exam by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2006, and also belongs to various professional affiliations, including the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, and the American Cleft Lip/Cleft Palate Association. She practices with the Six Elements Philosophy developed by Dr. Lawrence Andrews, which is a comprehensive orthodontic philosophy emphasizing optimal occlusion and aesthetics. Dr. Maidens practiced in Atlanta for three years before coming back to her hometown to make the dream of her own practice become reality. Our Staff Esther Esther is our patient care coordinator/financial coordinator. She will welcome you to the practice and will answer any questions you might have along the way. Originally from Bend, Oregon, Esther moved to the Music City with her beagle dog, Miss Dolly Parton. Esther enjoys playing the piano and working on music with friends. Esther has been with the practice for three years. Christina Christina is our clinical assistant. Originally from Brentwood, she was moved by the quality of care that RM Orthodontics provided her own daughter and decided to go to dental assisting school. There she mastered the skills necessary to assist Dr. Maidens in creating healthy, beautiful smiles. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and bee-keeping! A fun-filled fact is that Christina is related to the Queen of England! She has been with the practice as a parent for three years, and an employee for two. Paula Paula is a clinical assistant coming to us from Florida where she had over 20 years experience in the dental field. Paula has worked previously as an orthodontic assistant as well as a general dental assistant. Ready to greet everyone with a hug, Paula is ready to help and will put you at ease. Her interests include spending time with friends and family, country music, and enjoying the fun Nashville has to offer. She is a proud mom to her son, Dustin and her “Lil Red.” |
